Frequently Asked Questions:-
Why mostly we of horizontal combustion use vertical instead engine combustion engine?
1) Vibration: when you have an engine in horizontal position, the vibrations would cause the engine to vibrate in X-Z plane and we do not have any damping mechanism to absorb it. It might cause reduction in ride control.
2) Lubrication: extra efforts are to be taken for lubrication process.
3) Injection: in vertical engines, combustion is assisted by fuel/charge flowing down, the same is not the case in horizontal engines.
4) Balancing: when you design – Piston assembly, it needs to be balanced for less wear and vibration. It is horizontal engines than the crankshaft engines.
5) Space: If we start using horizontal engines in passenger cars, we might have to accommodate to increase the width of the car engine and suspension assembly.
