Building Materials and Products Surface Flame Spread Test Equipment is used to determine the propagation of flame along the surface of plate specimen, this shows the fire performance of exposed surfaces of walls and ceilings. After testing we can categorise building materials into four categories- Class 1, 2, 3 and 4; where Class 1 is safest and Class 4 is highly dangerous and not allowed to be used as building materials.

Frequently Asked Questions:-

What is BS476?

Current the appropriate British Standard 476 fire British Standards The dictates tests for these and elements of structure/materials grades the level of fire resistance.

What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 0 fire rating?

Class 1 – Protects your flames. Class 0 – Protects of surface from the amount your surface from the spread of heat released limits the surface during from the spread of flames AND a fire.
